The Only Message I am Qualified to Preach

“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,” – 2 Corinthians 3:5

Looking back over my nearly 40 years in ministry, I have taught on a lot of Biblical topics.  I also realize that there were times that I failed to live up to my own message at times.  Those were the times I would wonder if I was still qualified to even teach God’s Word.

Have you ever felt like you don’t measure up to God’s standard of goodness, or you don’t have the peace or joy that He says you can have?

I have good news today!  It doesn’t disqualify you from anything.  It doesn’t mean you are in a subclass of Christianity.  We were made to be insufficient in ourselves anyway.  Our sufficiency is God Himself.

In other words, it doesn’t have anything to do with how good we are, but it has EVERYTHING to do with how good our Father is!  I can’t preach a message about how to be as good as I am.  I make a lot of mistakes.  But I CAN talk all day about how good God is to people that are far from perfect.

Our message is all about Him.  When I realized that His Love, favor, and blessing had nothing to do with my goodness, but it was about HIS goodness, I had a message of Love, sufficiency, and grace that I could declare with the clearest of convictions.

Oh how He loves us.  Oh how we love Him.
