I’m All Ears

I want to share with you two things I have noticed as I’ve grown in my fellowship with my heavenly Father.

One:
It becomes easier to hear His voice when we really want his counsel in a situation.  By that, I mean we become “all ears” to whatever He says about it, even if it does not agree with our thoughts or plans, even if it may not justify our actions or feelings about the circumstance.  It usually brings a correction to my way of handling the particular issue.

Two:
His correction is a wonderful and beautiful thing.  It’s never condemning.  It doesn’t make me think bad things about myself or anyone else, but rather it shows me a more excellent and beautiful way that I embrace, and my human way gets dropped in the embrace.  His thoughts inspire me to trust Him with peace of mind.  His counsel shows me the beauty and power of humility and love.  I forget my fear, and therefore, my compulsion to control people and the world around me.  It somehow makes me aware that there is a most excellent way of thinking and existing, so that the way that seems right to humans doesn’t even compare.  It becomes the end of striving with life and with our fellow man.  It’s beautiful.  That’s all I can say.

“So you should earnestly desire the most helpful gifts. But now let me show you a way of life that is best of all.” – 1 Corinthians 12:31 NLT
