Simply Receive

If I told you that I was sending a package to you.  You would not jump in your car and drive to my house in order to get it.  All you would need to do is to stay home and receive it.

The beauty and power of being in Christ, is that we initiate none of the goodness that has come to us.  It’s all given, or sent by God.  We simply receive.

A football receiver doesn’t throw himself the ball.  He doesn’t run to the quarterback and “take it by force”.  He receives what is sent to him. Surfers do not create a wave.  They receive what comes to them.  I heard a songwriter once say that songwriters don’t really write a song.  They receive a song.  It comes to them.

Consider these verses:

“I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you.“ – John 14:18

“God is able to make all grace abound toward you.“ – 2 Corinthians 9:8

“The earth which drinks in the rain that often comes… receives blessing from God.“ – Hebrews 6:7

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights.” – James 1:17

So Friend, you and I are right where we need to be.  When we are aware of how it really works, we become a great receiver!

“What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving.” – Matthew 6:31 MSG

Have a great day.  God’s Love, goodness and abundance is forever flowing in our lives!
