Peace or Panic
Jesus said, “Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to to take a real rest.” (Matthew 11:29, MSG)
We’re living through an unusual time, no? The Coronavirus has been a part of our collective story together on earth. How we navigate it will either promote peace or panic. We have an opportunity, as sons and daughters of God, to offer hope to this world. We also have the perfect opportunity to take Jesus up on His offer: “Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it.
“Thirteen men were in a storm on the Sea of Galilee. One common situation, two different experiences. Twelve had panic, one had peace. Peace is not linked to our circumstances. We can have heaven in hellish situations, and we can have hell in heavenly situations.
When life proves challenging, remember that you can rest in a storm like Jesus did when He was crossing over the sea. After all, it is only a storm. It had a beginning and it will have an end, but you are going to the other side. You will outlast it. You’re living forever.
Life on earth can bring storms, but we have Jesus living in us and together we will get to the other side of this thing. He has given us His peace – a peace that passes all understanding. It will guard your heart and mind.”
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Matthew 11:30, MSG)
Friend, living in the Spirit is a life of flow. No matter what is happening around us. It is the distinct rhythm of grace. This is what you have been given in Jesus. This is who you are.
