A Do-It-Yourself Guy

“We don’t owe this old do-it-yourself life one red cent. There’s nothing in it for us,
nothing at all. The best thing to do is give it a decent burial and get on with your new
life.” – Romans 8:12,13 MSG

Before I knew Jesus, I was a total do-it-yourself guy. I never asked for help from
anyone. It was disastrous and even destructive. After I met the Lord, I tried to bring
my DIY mindset into my relationship with Him. I continued that way for twenty years,
and though God was with me, my life was still hugely a struggle.

I thought God wanted me to improve myself, to get stronger, to live sinless, and to
work harder for Him. I vowed. I fasted. I took on more faith projects. I did all I could
to create the life that I thought God wanted me to have.

One day, I quit; and that’s when I was able to see that God IS the Life that He wanted
me to have. It was HIM living through me, filling me with Love, joy, and peace! He
was truly my everything. I came into rest, and my heart was filled with fullness of Life.
It was the dawning of a new day for Rick Manis!

The resurrection says it will never be like it was before! There is a new rule for living,
and I am so grateful that I’ve found it.

“It is no longer I who live, but Christ that lives in me.” – Galatians 2:20
Because of Jesus, all things are new! Friend, you not alone! We can rest in the peace
of Someone bigger than us living through us. We can just watch it happen, and we
can enjoy it.

We love you, and want you to experience the heaven of God’s Love, no matter what
you deal with in life. He came to take the internal struggle away.
