Divine Love

Someone once said that the “woman with the issue of blood” was like the church.  We have many “bloody issues” that need to be healed.

I want to talk a little about issues, topics, and controversies that can sometimes distract us from our real purpose.  They can cause us to hide the gift that we really have for this world.

When Jesus was on the earth, He seemed to constantly contradict people like the Pharisees, who presented many issues before Jesus.  There were issues of the law of Moses, issues of behavior, issues of doctrine, etc.  Yet, Jesus always lifted the person, even, and especially, the sinner above the issue.  I love this about Him!  It shows us what His priorities are.  We, and everyone in the world are more important to God than anything else!

A Franciscan friar named Richard Rohr once wrote:
“Every time God forgives us, God is saying that God’s own rules do not matter as much as the relationship that God wants to create with us.”

The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus tells us that all is forgiven.  Nothing is held against us.  What great lengths God went to in order to show His heart of love toward us and invite us to know Him in a wonderful, loving, and very close relationship!

Friend, let’s remind ourselves of God’s, and our, priorities.  People are precious, and we can show them all that they are more important than any cultural issues, political issues, or any other bloody issues.  We are about lifting them up.  When we see clearly, we get to be Christ so that we would not inflame the issues, but rather heal them.

I don’t know about you, but the idea of healing with divine Love excites me!
