Arise and Shine

“Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night.”  – Genesis 1:16

The moon’s main purpose is simply to light the night.  We know that it does not generate its own light, but it simply reflects the light of the sun.  It’s really the same relationship that we have with our Father.  He supplies the light to us, we reflect it to the earth.  This is how we rule or shine, in the darkness.

“Arise, shine; for your light has come!  And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.  For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you.  The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.” – Isaiah 60:1-3

The moon does this so beautifully, simply by being the moon.  If it were to try to create light, it would fail miserably.  It’s the same with us.  The world can see a bright and beautiful light in this present darkness when we give the earth the same thing that God gives to us.

Our Father gives us Love, joy, peace, gentleness, goodness, kindness, and patience.  Freely we receive.  Freely we give, just like that big gorgeous moon that we love to see at night.

Our Father does not give us shame, pressure, impatience, or anger.  I’ve never felt any of that from Him at all.  Why would we want to put that on the world?  Where do we get any shame or condemnation anyway?  I can assure you, we don’t get it from God.  We only get it from ungodly sources, such as ignorant people or from our own distorted psyche.  Let’s not be a source for such things.  We don’t need to add more darkness to the darkness.  Let’s give the world a beautiful sight.  God wants to shine in the darkness, and He does it with His reflected glory upon us.

“The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned.” – Matthew 4:16

Have a great day (and night).  We believe in you!
