The War is Over
“God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And He gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.” – 2 Corinthians 5:19
God has no enemies, and we really don’t need any either. The beautiful gospel reveals the absolute and unlimited Love of God for us all (John 3:16). This is actually the same Love that was poured into our hearts by His Spirit (Romans 5:5), and when we are aware of it, we experience the wonderful joy and peace of the kingdom of Heaven within us.
In our modern time of much media noise, it can be easy to give way to horrible thoughts toward people that God loves infinitely. Instead of Heaven, we experience an inner hell as we become fearful, stressed, angry, and even mentally exhausted. This can only happen if we believe lies instead of the Truth. I’m not talking about the truth of whether the people we accuse in our hearts have or have not done the things we accuse them of. I’m talking about the truth of God’s absolute Love toward them. Are we aware of Spiritual, and therefore, eternal Truth?
“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.” – Romans 8:5
I’ll share something that helps me to refocus on Truth, and makes me mindful of the Spirit instead of low-level human thinking. When I’m thinking ugly thoughts about a person (even politicians), I ask myself, “Does God feel this same way? Does my Father think these thoughts?” If we know His heart at all, we have to say that He does not think that way. A god who thinks that way would never have suffered and died for us.
When I get back into Truth, I find that I experience such peace and joy. Angst, frustration, and anger vanish away. Heaven on earth becomes my experience once again!
The Truth makes us free. Free from the hell of inner turmoil, and free to enjoy the abundant Life in God.
