The Life That Makes Us Whole

The greek word “sozo” used in the Bible means: save, heal, make whole, protect.

Jesus has given us eternal life. We are living it now. Even when our body lays down, our soul continues on. It’s not only our physical body that Jesus came to heal, make whole and to protect, but also our inner person, consisting of our soul and spirit.

Many of us have experienced wounding in our soul as we’ve weathered the effects of a fallen world.  The bible says that we are saved, or made whole by the life of Christ, and the truth of the gospel opens our heart to a healing, life-giving power that fills the soul with the fullness of God.

God, who is LOVE, came to earth through Jesus, to reveal the truth about Himself. Jesus healed and taught and demonstrated the true character of God, that He is a trustworthy Father who is for us.

The gospel reveals that Jesus united with us in our sin and death. On the cross, he bore our sins, sicknesses, lack, fear, futility, poverty (everything pertaining to death) on his own body. God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself. On the cross, Jesus surrendered His own life and entrusted it to His Father.

The miracle of the resurrection revealed that LIFE in God is much more powerful than death and/or us trying to heal, protect, or engineer our own life. God’s LIFE saves, heals, protects, and makes whole. In fact, our union with Jesus lifts us from death to life since we were raised by His resurrection out of our “death realm” and into the “life realm.” This is the unconditional love realm. The bible says we are seated with Jesus at the right hand of the Father, meaning we are now above the world system of fear and death. We are filled with the Holy Spirit who lives in each of us, personally reminding us of this truth.

“Since all his ‘children’ have flesh and blood, so Jesus became human to fully identify with us. He did this, so that he could experience death and annihilate the effects of the intimidating accuser who holds against us the power of death. By embracing death Jesus sets free those who live their entire lives in bondage to the tormenting dread of death.” (Hebrews 2:14-15, TPT)

The life that is in us is greater than the death around us.  Let us all be aware and live in joy and peace!
