A Father’s Love

“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.'” – Romans 8:15 NKJV

The Greek word used for adoption is huiothesia, which means “placement into sonship”.  It’s far more than our idea of a legal adoption.

I grew up feeling rejected by my earthly father.  It gave me a sense of being unlovable, and I engaged in a lot of self-destructive behavior.

Later, I met my heavenly Father.  I was soon surprised at the acceptance and care that I experienced from Him.  It seemed that He was also an earthly Father to me.  I remember hearing His patient voice helping me while I worked on a car as well as other situations.  He was just so gentle, kind, and nurturing.

When I would get frustrated by my imperfections, He had a way of comforting me and assuring me that I would grow, and it would get better.

I was not fatherless!  I was loved!  God really cared about me, and I began to love Him.

My Father has truly healed this once brokenhearted, lost child.  He’s so good at healing crushed hearts.

Friend, we have a Father who cares about us perfectly.  No matter the situations in this life, we are in the best place we can be, because we matter to our Father.
